Buffalo Roam
Project
West Yellowstone, Montana
You've all seen the cows, horses, whales, dogs, etc. painted
by artists all over the country to celebrate a city or a state. Now comes
West Yellowstone, Montana with their "Buffalo Roam" Project. Susan has been chosen as one of 25 artists to participate in the "Buffalo Roam"
Project in
West Yellowstone, Montana. As part of this program, she will be the recipient of
a fiberglass, 3/4 size
buffalo sculpture (see below) delivered with a smile to her home in Buffalo, Wyoming
(really, really ironic) for decoration with her own design. The buffalo is actually 8' long, 26" wide and 56" tall
and that's considered 3/4 size - Wow!
The painted buffalo is to be auctioned off in West Yellowstone in the middle of 2007. Stay tuned
for the time and place!
News Flash: from
West Yellowstone, Montana web site: The
"Buffalo Roam" project is off and "running". the buffalo model was sculpted,
shipped to Buffalo, (ironical huh?) Minnesota where the fiberglass "naked"
buffalo are being made.
We have cleared the two biggest hurdles, that of finding 23 of the 25 local
sponsors and sufficient Artists to paint them. . . .We are on track to receive a
truckload of "naked" buffalo by late October for delivery to the artist and
their completion by April 1, 2007. . . .
Bet you've always wondered how these projects begin life!
Biggest Question: How did that "little" fellow get into the studio?
Answer: Through a fairly regular door! Wow!The
Beginning

February 2, 2007
Sue has sent some amazing photos of the next steps.
Here is a good picture of Step One.

Step Two - Now here are some great pictures of one side that is finished.

Go to Gallery, and check out "Rounding Up the Girls," you'll find the original painting Sue is using for this buffalo.

Amazing transformation!
But Sue still has to get this little fellow out the studio door
that sits right behind his derrier in this picture!
Ah, you say -- he did come in! Best wait until he's ultra dry!

Step Three - Here are the final pictures for the great West Yellowstone Buffalo by Susan Guy.

Really amazing - I think you will agree. The buffalo next journeys
over to West Yellowstone somehow! Not exactly sure how
but the transportation date is either March 5 or 6th.
Please note the little fellow is finally headed out the door!

And thus the journey ends! Bravo Susan and Wes for wrangling the critter
all the way to West Yellowstone. And now we all know how the finished product arrived. TaDa!
